I like it when movies push the limits and take risks. I like movies like Inception and They Live. Sure, sometimes they push a little hard, but I still enjoy them. This movie is similar, making me wonder what I would do under similar circumstances.
Extinction follows a man plagued by terrible dreams of invaders. His family is struggling with his lost time as he tries to keep his life together. Until invaders come down and attack his city! Now the family is struggling to survive the brutality of the invaders! Facing extinction, choices must be made as to how far they will go.
The movie really made me question how we look at 'the other'. The more different we are from something, the less we seem to care whether it lives or dies. This movie has all sorts of moral questions woven into the fabric of a pretty standard scifi action movie. It made me rather introspective, but I can't delve too far into it without spoilers.
In all, the movie made me think, which I like. There were some parts that I thought weren't done well, but I still really enjoyed it. It's definitely not for everyone... too many explosions for a thinker, but too much depth for an action flick. Still, it's my kind of movie, so that bumped it up for me.
